Overview

Aline gives you two simple ways to rename a document:

  1. From the Document Repository

  2. From within an open Workflow

  3. From within a Document

All options allow you to update document names without affecting their content or metadata.

Option 1: Rename a Document from the Repository

  1. Navigate to your Document Repository in Aline.

  2. Locate the document you want to rename.

  3. Click the three-dot (⋮) menu icon next to the document name.

  4. Select Rename from the dropdown menu.

  5. Enter the new name and confirm your changes.

💡 Tip: Use clear, descriptive names — for example, “NDA_AcmeCorp_2025” or “Vendor_Contract_Jan2025” — to make searching and filtering easier later.

Option 2: Rename a Document from Within a Workflow

  1. Go to the Workflows section.

  2. Open the workflow that contains the document you want to rename.

  3. On the right-hand side of the document row, click the three-dot menu (⋮).

  4. Select Rename.

  5. Enter the new name and click Save.

Option 3: Rename from inside the opened document

  1. Open the document directly inside the workflow.

  2. Click the document title at the top of the window.

  3. Type your new name.

  4. Press Enter or click Save.
