Here is a chart outlining each role and the common actions a user can take:

Editing Role

Actions

Editor

The most-permissive editing role. Users with this role can take almost any action with a document, including editing content, making suggestions in track changes, adding comments, adding or editing other users' editing permissions, sharing a document, deleting a document, and more.

Suggester

Users with this role can only submit suggested edits to a document and cannot edit directly. Suggesters can also create and resolve tasks (if within the same organization as the document owner), add comments to a document, and more. Suggesters cannot add or edit other users' editing permissions, or delete a document.

Commenter

Commenters can only comment on a document and, except for filling out input fields, cannot edit a document directly or submit suggested edits.

Viewer

Users with this role can only view a document and fill out any fields assigned directly to the user.
